Swimming Cuppers 2014-2015 Results

Swimming Cuppers 2014-2015 Results

There was a fantastic turn-out from some of the colleges on Saturday of 2nd week MT. The atmosphere on poolside was electric as everyone prepared to partake in the greatest sporting event since London’s Olympics.

Congratulations to Magdalen College on winning Cuppers yet again this year; although we can’t help but feel that this is perhaps helped by the college’s proximity to the pool. New College, usually Magdalen’s biggest rivals, suffered from a severe lack of numbers; falling from 2nd position last year with over 100 points to last position with just a single point this year; barely ahead of colleges that didn’t even compete!

The real heroes of the evening however were Lady Margaret Hall who shot up the points table at the end of the evening with some seriously strong relay performances; and finished in second with 72 points; a huge improvement on their 10th place score of 22 points last year. In particular their Men’s 4x25m freestyle relay team dominated the event, pulling ahead of every other team to finish in a time of 46.9 (not all that far off world record pace!)
