2018
Freshers’ Fair – Examination Schools, Oxford – Wednesday 3rd-Thursday 4th October (0th week MT18)
Come and meet current members of OUSC, hear their experiences of swimming with the club and sign up for our team trials at the end of 0th week.
Team Trials – Rosenblatt Pool, Oxford – 14:00-16:00 – Saturday 6th October (0th week MT18)
Trials for OUSC. Everyone will be asked to swim two events, one of which will be 50m freestyle. Anyone interested in joining the club is warmly invited, regardless of ability. This is a great chance to meet all current members of OUSC and get a feel for the club. Team announcements will be made shortly after the trials.
Meet and Greet – Monday 8th October (1st week MT18)
All new members of OUSC are invited to an informal meet and greet event to get to know their new friends and team mates. Details will be sent out with team announcements.
Fresher’s Meal – Wednesday 10th October (1st week MT18).
A second social in first week to welcome the freshers to the team. Great chance to show off your voracious appetite after a training session! Details will be sent out with team announcements.
Friendly Gala – Rosenblatt Pool, Oxford – 14:00-17:00 – Saturday 27th October (3rd week MT18)
Our annual friendly gala is the first time our freshers compete under the dark blue banner. Attendance is expected and everyone will get the chance to race. Followed by pizza and a party with the other teams.
BUCS Short Course Championships – Ponds Forge, Sheffield – Friday 9th-Sunday 11th November (5th week MT18) (TBC)
BUCS SC is one of our main competitions of the year and is always a highlight. Attendance is compulsory for Blues members and optional for Seconds. Anyone attending this meet must be prepared to leave on the Friday and return on the Sunday evening.
Cuppers – Rosenblatt Pool, Oxford – 17:00-19:00 – Saturday 24th November (7th week MT18)
Cuppers is the inter-collegiate swimming competition. Absolutely anyone from the university can take part in the competition, and the more people who attend, the more fun it usually turns out to be!
Training Camp – Rosenblatt Pool, Oxford – Saturday 1st-Saturday 8th December (9th week MT18)
An in-house training camp held in 9th week to keep up fitness before heading home for the vacation.
2019
Training Camp – Vila Real, Portugal – Wednesday 2nd-Tuesday 8th January (-1st/0th week HT19)
Our annual warm weather training camp. This is always a highlight of the year, members become close friends and get some great training in! Attendance is compulsory. Speak to the Captains and Treasurer if you have concerns about payment for the camp.
BUCS Long Course Championships – Ponds Forge, Sheffield – Friday 15th-Sunday 17th February (5th week HT19) (TBC)
The LC edition of the BUCS Championships. Each club is limited to two swimmers per event, making spaces highly competitive within the team. Anyone attending this meet must be prepared to leave on the Friday and return on the Sunday evening.
Varsity Match – Cambridge University – Saturday 16th February (5th week HT19) (TBC)
The big one! This is what we train for all year. Two competitions are held, one for Blues and one for Seconds. The match is held each year, with host pool alternating between Oxford and Cambridge. All swimmers should plan, prepare and be available for this competition.
BUCS Team Championships: National Finals – Ponds Forge, Sheffield – TBC
The final edition of the BUCS Championships. Each club is represented by one swimmer per event.
